Audrey N. Ludemann, M.S.Ed.

Principal, Day and Boarding School Advising
audrey [at] thebertramgroup.com
(203) 762-7401

Through more than fifteen years in the classroom, plus a decade of experience in educational advising, Audrey has honed her ability to recognize the unique abilities of each student. Enthusiastic about working with students and families, she is skilled in assessing students and identifying personal ‘best fit’ schools. Families praise Audrey’s ability to communicate, connect, and bring out the best in their child. Admission colleagues voice appreciation of the insights she brings to the admission process.

Audrey discovered her passion for working with students while attending the Madeira boarding school in Virginia and interning at an inner city public school. While attending Sarah Lawrence College, she designed, developed, and implemented a music program for young children. She went on to earn a Masters in Education at the University of Bridgeport and taught in independent day schools, serving students in grades K-8. In 2003, Audrey became an educational consultant. “There is nothing more rewarding,” she affirms, “than to help a student find the right school or program and to watch them bloom into a more fulfilled version of themselves.”

Audrey is certified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Murphy-Meisgeier Type Indicator for Children.

What families say about working with Audrey:

"We needed to say the deepest thank you to you.  Ever since our daughter moved to boarding school it has changed the trajectory of her life. She is happy, confident and enjoying school. She could not have done this without you by her side and encouraging her move.  You made a huge, positive impact on our daughter's life and we will be forever grateful! — Parents

"My husband and I have worked with Audrey 3 times through the boarding school process. She was wonderful, supportive, knowledgeable, available and very thorough. I would highly recommend her if you need help finding the perfect school for your child." —Parent

"Our son got off the call completely energized and positive about the Boarding School process! You really got him thinking about not only the reason for him wanting to apply to boarding school, but about his identity and personal growth. Honestly, it's a challenge for someone new to get more than two sentences from him, and to think you two spoke for over two hours! It's a testament to your connection with kids..." — Parent from Korea

"Cammie, confirming what you told me when we spoke, Audrey is a rock star. She is kind, insightful and makes things happen - not to mention funny and easy to work with. We leave tomorrow for a road trip to visit 6 schools that Audrey identified as a possible fit for my daughter. We are excited about all of them and eager to learn more." — Parent

"From the moment we met Audrey, I felt a tremendous sense of relief and positive energy - Audrey’s kindness, strong listening skills and confidence were immediately apparent, and we knew we could trust her. Audrey came into our home, peeled back the layers of our situation and began to get to know our daughter. She reminded us of all of her  strengths and interests, and also of her challenges, and she reassured us that we would find a place for her. Audrey shared her own personal experiences as a teacher and as a mother to help us understand how each school has a different model, and we were able to quickly convert our focus from reacting to our situation to initiating a new search and choosing to pursue boarding schools instead of day schools. Although others had suggested this to us in the past, the way Audrey explained the opportunities that would be available to her for Learning Support, and also the ways for our daughter, who thrives on personal connections and relationships, to immerse herself in her community were so very exciting. We were now moving from a place of feeling turned down, to a place of feeling like there were better options that we could try to realize for her! Audrey did a fantastic job of talking to our daughter and identifying her kind nature and her non-academic strengths like athletics, art, and music.... Now that I know a bit more about the admissions process and calendar, and understand how boarding schools work, it is even more impressive to me that Audrey was able to accomplish what she accomplished in such a short amount of time. I can say with 100% certainty that it was Audrey’s reputation and strong success rate with kids that helped to get us in front of the Admissions people at the schools we all thought made sense for our daughter.... Please know that your efforts and hard work on our behalf made a significant impact and we are so very very grateful." — Parent

"The hard work you do for your families deserves recognition.   In my short time here, I have often heard how respected the Bertram Group is in the IECA world.  You are all appreciated!"— Member of admissions team at Massachusetts school for students with learning issues

"Our son will be attending his first choice school this Fall, and it is a school that wasn't even on our radar at this time last year.  Without Audrey, we would have spent considerable time researching, visiting and applying to schools that just weren't the right fit.  After meeting our family, and listening to both ours and our son's desires, she put together a great list of schools, and was with us through the application and decision process.  After getting great results and having our choice of schools, we immediately retained Audrey for our next child only a year behind.  She comes with our highest recommendation!" — Parent

"I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for everything that you have done for me.  Without you, I highly doubt I would be going to [school] let alone boarding school.  Last January when I switched to [previous school], I honestly thought none of this would ever happen, but your commitment to helping me was inspiring, and that kept me going.  Your guidance has been crucial and your dedication second to none."—Student going to Boarding School

"I just wanted to thank you one more time for this wonderful journey of my school search, I enjoyed every moment and I really learned a lot about myself. You are an amazing advisor and I know that you have helped many students like me find the perfect fit for secondary school."—Student upon accetptence to boarding school

"Thank you for being so spectacular.  We are incredibly grateful for all you have done!"—Parent on Audrey's assistance with their daughter in getting into boarding school

"Thank you so much for your help with my high school applications, I could not have done it with out you. Applying to these schools has been an amazing learning experience for me and it will help me for the rest of my life. I just wanted to say thank you and that I hope you have an amazing 2018 and that you help many more kids find their perfect fit for them."—Student

“We have had a terrific experience with Audrey, and her knowledge of and relationships with the schools was invaluable. I have recommended her to three other families and each has thanked me. It was not just getting into the schools, but the direction of what schools might fit better than others that was so important.” — Parent

“Throughout the exploration, testing, interview process, application preparation, and subsequent follow-up, Audrey Ludemann was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and supportive. She has a special way of making people feel comfortable, enabling them to better tackle the task of finding the right school fit for their teenager.” — Parent

“I spoke with many admission directors about Audrey prior to retaining her. Her reputation is as solid and reputable as I could find – and the firm at large is highly regarded. Audrey has a keen sense of people. She instills confidence in us as parents, which in turn helps us provide guidance to our child. She also connected with our daughter immediately. Wow! What a gift!!” — Parent

“Audrey, I am most appreciative of the time you spent with me this fall preparing for my interviews. I felt very ready to handle whatever came at me and the time I spent with you made all the difference in my confidence.” — Student

“My family and I really appreciate all you have done. With your help, I have been accepted to three of the finest schools in the nation, and have new, exciting opportunities to learn and experience new things. Once again, thank you.” — Student

"Audrey, we feel very fortunate to have had your assistance these past few weeks.  Your advice was always wise and informed and we truly valued your experience as well." — New York City parent

"Our son just completed one month at Fusion Academy and by all indications, you have steered us to a home run. As we and you recognize, he is unique, and Fusion has enabled an intricate unlocking of his vast intellect.  With each passing day we see a confident and inquisitive learner emerging from his bunker.  We can never properly thank you enough for helping him with his academic path.  You are a gem and a powerful diviner of the true path for educational success.  He has had angels in his life, but your knowledge of the system coupled with your perceptive decoding now ranks you highly with many others." —Parent

"Audrey, we thank you very much for so many things.  For your guidance and support, for your honesty and encouragement.  You helped us navigate a long, sometimes frustrating process with your knowledge and experience.  There were a lot of ‘truths’ we had to face in the last year but you helped us see they were all things we needed to know to find the best fit for our child.  We truly believe that this is the beginning of a very positive chapter in his life.  We are all excited (and nervous) and so very grateful for you, Audrey, thank you for everything, you’re amazing!" — Parent

"It is so easy and rewarding to work with you…thank you for the insight, compassion, and details.
You connect all the dots!"—Admissions Director at New England Boarding School

"It’s wonderful working with you.  I appreciate your thoroughness, thoughtfulness and care with which you serve your clients."—Psychologist in New York City who has worked with Audrey
