Unique, Global Perspective on Education

Two professional consultants joined our network of affiliates this season, both bringing a unique, global perspective on education.

Linda Magnussen, the president and founder of LM Educational Advisory, has developed a strong following among expat Americans and international families planning to attend college in the United States, as well as U.S.-based students who wish to explore summer programs or expand university options in another country. Linda recently stepped down as the Director of U.S. and Canadian University Counseling at Southbank, an IB international school located in London, United Kingdom. “I have always loved working with teens on their educational endeavours,” Linda says. “I encourage each student to explore a diverse mix of schools so that they have choices at the end of the process.”

A dual U.S./U.K. citizen, Linda was born in Denmark and has lived in Canada, Belgium, the United Kindom and the United States. She currently divides her time between Vermont and New York City. More about Linda

Kristen J. Naspo has traveled the world—from Seoul, Taiwan, and Thailand to Jamaica, Bahamas, and Mexico—to work with families whose students want to attend school in the United States. Whether working with U.S. residents, expats living abroad, or citizens of other nations, Krissy recognizes what values these families share: “Even though cultures are different everywhere,” she says, “the common theme is putting children first. All these families are making sacrifices to give their children opportunities.”

During her many years at The Hillside School, a junior boarding school in Massachusetts, Krissy was responsible for both admission of new students and placement of graduates. This experience gives her keen insight into the admission process and strong awareness of the diversity of secondary schools available for students. “As an independent educational advisor, I'm excited to share my knowledge of the educational field with families, many of whom are not aware of the broad opportunities that exist." More about Krissy
