Deborah Arnowitz Ashe

NYC Day Schools

Deborah has been Director of Admissions at several New York City schools and was also the Director of the School & Child Care Search Service at Columbia University, where she assisted in recruitment and retention efforts by helping families to find schools where their children would thrive.

Over the course of her twenty-five-year career in independent school admissions, Deborah has developed a deep understanding of the field—and the anxiety associated with navigating it. She leverages her expertise to mitigate stress while helping families broaden (or possibly narrow) their potential school choices, including independent day schools, coed, single sex, and faith-based schools. For families eager to explore suburban day schools or boarding schools in addition to New York City options, Deborah partners with other TBG consultants.

Deborah served for many years as a Board Member and Co-Chair (for Ongoing Schools) of the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY). She is a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and is a member of its Schools Committee. She has just been elected to join the Board of The Parents League of New York for a two-year term.

Deborah holds a BA in Comparative Literature, an MA in English Literature, and a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) Certification from the University of PIttsburgh. She is a graduate of Cardozo School of Law and practiced in securities litigation and corporate law. A longtime New Yorker, Deborah raised her children here and takes advantage of all that this incredible city has to offer.
