Helen Waldron, M.Ed.
Academic coaching, Executive Function coaching
Helen provides academic, executive function and 2e (twice exceptional) coaching. She started this work with college athletes working to meet NCAA requirements and that work inspired her to branch out to middle school and high school students. She has worked privately with students for over 30 years and meets the students where they are, providing a holistic approach to growing their learning capacity. The work combines neuroscience, positive psychology, self awareness and abundant strategies to help students become independent and confident learners. Using a coaching model, she meets weekly with students via zoom with check-ins as needed between sessions.
Alongside working with students directly, Helen also guides schools to support and foster achievement for diverse learners. She has led professional development courses and consulted with schools in the U.S., Canada and Bermuda. Helen is also a frequent speaker at national conferences on topics related to best practices in teaching and learning.
Helen studied psychology and education with a focus on neurodiverse learners during college and graduate school. She is a facilitator for All Kinds of Minds, an organization that works to build expertise about learning in our schools. She is also a credentialed Professional Development leader for the Center for Research on Learning at the University of Kansas.
Currently raising a high school senior and a college senior, Helen understands the landscape our teens are traversing in this most challenging time. She provides students and their parents with a gentle, focused approach that gets at the root of school difficulties.
Helen lives in Litchfield County with her family and two rescue pups, Gilly and Lila. She is a nature lover, swimmer, equestrian, gardener and loves to gather friends and family for picnics by the lake.
